Avocado Tuna Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients

  • ·1 × 140g can wild-caught tuna in olive oil or water, drained
  • ·1 ripe avocado
  • ·1 tbsp capers, roughly chopped
  • ·¼ small red onion, very finely diced
  • ·Juice of ½ lemon
  • ·Sea salt and black pepper
  • ·Pinch of red pepper flakes
  • ·4–6 large romaine or butter lettuce leaves
  • ·Fresh dill or flat-leaf parsley, to garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1 In a medium bowl, mash the avocado with a fork — leave it slightly chunky, not completely smooth.
  2. 2 Add the drained tuna, capers, and red onion. Mix gently to combine without breaking up the tuna too much.
  3. 3 Season with lemon juice, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Taste and adjust.
  4. 4 Spoon the tuna-avocado mixture into the lettuce cups, dividing evenly.
  5. 5 Garnish with fresh dill or parsley if using, and serve immediately.

Pro Tip

Wild-caught tuna packed in good olive oil has noticeably better flavour and a superior omega-3 profile compared to water-packed. Worth the small extra cost.
